Those of you who follow me on instagram, facebook and twitter might have already seen some of these. If not follow me on instagram, facebook and twitter or you'll miss out! ;-) These are pictures I shot of the great super bloom happening now all over Southern California. Specifically in Antelope Valley at the poppy reserve. What a day of hiking, amazing fields of flowers and color! If you can make it, get out there!
Quest for Snow
I love snow. The pure clean white, the soft sound of it falling, how it blankets everything in winter wonder. I even like shoveling snow. Unfortunately I don't live in a place that gets good snow. So every year I quest for it. I basically drive until I find it. This seasons quest brought me to Yosemite and I was not disappointed. Everywhere I looked was like a Bob Ross painting. Amazing!!
Instant film
Instant film isn't exactly instant. Once its exposed and expelled through the rollers, spreading the caustic jelly a magical thing happens. Over the next twenty minutes an irreversible chain reaction of light and chemicals slowly turns the blank canvas into an image. Recently I rediscovered this artsy, scientific voodoo on a work road trip. I shot one packet of impossible 600polaroid film, 8 shots to tell a story. The result were muted colors and stark landscapes that mean the world to me. My inner hipster just celebrated a little with some PBR.
Sutro Tower
Some associate it as part of the iconic San Francisco skyline, some call it an eye sore. Whatever it is to you it's hard to ignore Sutro tower while because it's designed to be seen from everywhere. To me it's beautiful and different from every angle especially when the fog, clouds and sun dance around it. Check out some shots from my last trip to beautiful San Francisco.
Head For The Hills
Texas ranch roads 335, 336, 337 also know as the three sisters are three chip seal roads weaving across part of Texas hill country. These out of the way cheese grater roads (west of San Antonio) offer some of the best motorcycle riding in the State. Pro tips; stay in a town close like Leakey which sits right on 377, go in the spring to see the roads lined with colorful wildflowers, get on the roads early, on a weekday to avoid the droves of harley riders. Hold on, enjoy the ride and when the road signs say 15mph they mean 15mph!!
Denali National Park & Preserve
The trip through Denali National Park in the heart of Alaska is a grueling one. One dusty 91 mile road only open to park vehicles and specially permitted cars leading you on an amazing trail of breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. On a good day you get fantastic views of snow capped Mount McKinley the highest peak in North America. Luckily I had a good day. There was even a helicopter ride to a nearby glacier. What an amazing experience.
